Operations Controller at the Swedish Energy Agency

Your tasks – contribute to effective operational management within crime prevention

As an operations controller, you will be part of the agency's section for operational management, located within the Planning and Budget Secretariat in the Staff Department. The section is responsible for the agency's operational management, including operational planning, internal governance and control, budget and financial forecasts, follow-up, annual reports, budget documentation, environmental and energy management work, and coordination of contacts with the Government Offices.

Central to the role is coordinating the agency's crime prevention work at a comprehensive level. You will keep the work together, create structure, and ensure that there is a unified direction throughout the organization. When the agency receives new, larger, or complex assignments, you will contribute by supporting the operations early on. You will help clarify conditions, needs, and risks – a process we call steering. In this way, you contribute to a thoughtful and effective implementation from the start.

The position involves close collaboration with many parts of the organization. You will have ongoing contact with managers and employees and build relationships that drive the work forward.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • academic education that we assess as relevant for the role, for example in economics or political science
  • several years of experience working with crime prevention in the public sector and a good understanding of the structures, processes, and forms of collaboration required in the field
  • good leadership qualities and the ability to lead development work, create engagement, and get others to move towards common goals
  • solid experience in operational development. This means you have led or contributed to development initiatives that have resulted in clear improvements in work methods, processes, or results. You have done this by, for example, introducing new routines, establishing follow-up models, developing collaboration, or strengthening systematic work within an organization
  • good knowledge of spoken and written Swedish and English, as well as good knowledge of IT systems and programs

It is meritorious if you have:

  • experience of qualified work in a government agency
  • experience of working in an emergency management agency
  • experience of working as a leader
  • knowledge of the energy sector

Your communication skills are strong – you express yourself clearly and ensure that your message is understandable and gets through. For this role, you need to have a good understanding of your role while also being able to see to the best interests of the entire organization. About us

The Planning and Budget Secretariat is part of the Swedish Energy Agency's staff and is led by the Chief Financial Officer. Here, 14 driven and engaged operational and financial controllers work who look forward to welcoming you to the secretariat. We focus on governance issues and coordinate contacts with the Government Offices and written governance from the government such as regulatory letters, assignments, and instructions. We strive to ensure that the agency has effective environmental and energy management work and coordinate the agency's follow-up and reporting through quarterly reports, annual reports, gender equality integration, and sustainability work. In addition, we manage and develop the agency's leading and governing processes.

Good to know

The position is a permanent employment with an initial six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement. Positions within the Swedish Energy Agency may be placed in a security class, which means security clearance and background checks according to the provisions of the Security Protection Act. Upon permanent employment, it may be relevant to be placed in the agency in case of war.
